Will direct global IT infrastructure operations and have responsibility for delivering a global portfolio of operational IT Infrastructure projects and services across the company. This individual will manage a talented technical team along with a number of managed service providers to deliver a 24×7 operation. This position will be responsible for all operational aspects of the data center, network, systems, storage, email and application support firm wide. The Director of IT Infrastructure will manage the work efforts of supervisors/individual contributors with responsibility for all personnel decisions, as well as, resource allocation, including budget, for the entire function/area.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct and manage the operation of systems and network infrastructure. This includes numerous hosted Windows and Linux servers, application servers, database servers, file and print servers, backup services, email servers and gateways, DNS, DHCP and Active Directory.
- Manage and maintain the enterprise storage and Storage Area Network (SAN) environment including troubleshooting, performance planning, capacity, and continuity planning.
- Maintain the enterprise virtualization environment (VMware), including troubleshooting, performance monitoring and optimization, capacity, high availability and continuity planning.
- Maintain Disaster Recovery infrastructure and documentation, ensuring systems and applications are adequately protected according to their SLAs. Schedule, run and report on bi-annual Disaster Recovery tests included in Service and Project Management.
- Use the ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) best-practice framework to enhance processes and procedures for delivering high quality services that are aligned with business needs and objectives.
- Manage and oversee the planning, design, implementation and documentation of all new infrastructure projects and upgrades to existing infrastructure.
- Provide regular project status updates on schedule, budget, and deliverables in Project Portfolio Management (PPM) meetings.
- Develop standards and operational procedures that support current and future operational needs.
- Develop and implement departmental metrics and uptime statistics. Ensure timely resolution of service incidents and completion of service requests.
- Develop and implement IT Change Management procedures. Manage and oversee the planning and deployment of updates to production applications, and post-production confirmation of successful implementation.
- Manage the production support function including establishing procedures, monitoring, troubleshooting issues and escalation with vendors and internal IT teams.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or related field. Graduate coursework is desirable.
- Minimum of 12 years of related experience with demonstrated in-depth knowledge of information technology, strategic and process planning.
- Minimum of five years of people and project management experience.
- Experience in the following technologies/products: SAP ECC, BI, SharePoint and interfacing business applications, HP – UNIX, Linux, Windows, Basic Infrastructure
- Experience and knowledge in a global manufacturing company is highly desirable.
- Previous experience with developing corporate and/or organizational policies and authorizing their implementation.
- Able to direct and control the activities of one or more functional area, division, product group, or service area through senior managers who have overall responsibility for the successful operation of those assigned areas.
- Previous experience working with other senior managers with establishing strategic plans and objectives.
- Able to make final decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensure objectives are achieved.
- Able to participate in corporate development of methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people.
- Demonstrated ability of working on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth knowledge of the company.
- Past interaction with executives and/or major customers involving negotiation or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
- Past experience of having overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, and recommending, and implementing change.
- Exceptional communication skills and strong analytical skills.
